Best Credit Cards UK 2026. Independent Comparison

Compare UK credit cards for cashback, travel, 0% purchases and low rates. Ranked on what you actually pay, not marketing claims. Soft eligibility checks available.

How we rank UK credit cards

Choosing a credit card is not about finding the one with the best deal. A card with a zero percent purchase period might end up costing you more if it has a high rate after that. We look at how much each card will cost you over a year. We check four things: the APR after any special offer, any fees, how easy it is to get the card and any limits on rewards or cashback.

What we check on every card

  • The APR after any offer
  • Any annual or monthly fees
  • How easy it is to get the card
  • Any limits on cashback or rewards
  • Any fees for using the card
  • Section 75 purchase protection

Which UK credit card suits you best?

You should choose a card that matches what you need. If you pay your balance in full every month a cashback or rewards card is usually better than a zero percent purchase card. If you travel a lot a card with no foreign transaction fees is more valuable than a card with cashback. If you want to transfer a balance the transfer fee is more important than the zero percent period.

FAQ

The representative APR is the rate that at least 51 percent of successful applicants get. The other applicants might get a higher rate. It is the useful figure for comparing cards but you should always check the lender’s eligibility checker first to see what rate you will get.
No. All the cards on this page offer a soft-search eligibility tool that does not leave a mark on your credit file. Only a full application counts as a hard search.
Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act says that your credit card issuer is jointly responsible for purchases between £100 and £30,000. If goods are faulty or do not arrive you can claim directly from the card provider.
Any remaining balance will be charged at the card’s standard APR. To avoid interest you should pay off the balance before the offer ends or move it to a new 0% balance transfer card.
Yes. Many people have two or three cards — for example a cashback card for everyday spending, a no-FX-fee card for travel and a 0% card for larger purchases. Keep total utilisation below 30% of combined limits.
